In his first individual exhibition in Ecuador, Mexican artist Wendy Cabrera Rubio (Mexico City, 1995) proposes to approach episodes of modern literature dand trips linked to the history of the country through a critical study of the visits of the British biologist Charles Darwin and the American writer Herman Melville to the Galapagos Islands in 1835 and 1841 respectively
Under the ominous title "Log First: the innumerable back of the sea" the artist performs a select and careful rereading of these descriptions, which have been fundamental in the integration of the archipelago within the American cartographic imaginary and in the configuration of the scientific story about the mutability of animal species.
The sample can be toured free of charge at NASAL gallery (Santana Lofts, location 1) on schedule from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
