Salón Acme 2022: Mexico City

10 - 13 February 2022
N.A.S.A.L. is pleased to present Pulsión y Potencia by Luis Enrique Zela-Koort for the gallery's first participation to Salon Acme.

Luis Enrique Zela-Koort (1994) is an artist and researcher observing technological responses to biases that would otherwise be cataloged as objective truth; analyzing the ideological instrumentalization of science, mythology, and identity.

Pulsión y Potencia is an effort to channel dissident narratives and fictions, seeking to articulate non-hegemonic desires and futures. The project approaches desire as a productive agent of reality, one held in tension with the subject who channels it through the body.

Envisioning a collective future spoken from identity, the works explore ducts, orifices, and sensual portals as means to summon queer and non-binary temporalities. Through these portals—conduits of desire—we glimpse emerging possibilities and new social, sexual, and economic configurations. Integrating traditional materials and techniques with a psychedelic, cybernetic aesthetic, the pieces unsettle linear ontology and aim to spark new psychic and material configurations.

The future is a portal, and every portal is a sphincter: the materialization of a desire put into practice. Segmenting flows and negotiating the limits of the body, excretion, and pleasure.
