Aileen Gavonel (b. 1989) is a Peruvian multidisciplinary artist working across ceramics, performance, and visual poetry. Rooted in a background in printmaking from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, her practice evolved through collaborative exchanges with traditional ceramists in rural and urban contexts.
Through clay and ritual, Gavonel explores themes of emotional repair, human fragility, and the intersections of science and spirituality. In 2015, she co-founded Taller Dos Ríos, an experimental ceramic studio in Lima, and in 2019 established Casa Volcán, a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue. She later joined the SOMA Educational Program in Mexico City (2020–2022).
Recent projects include her performance SHHHHH (N.A.S.A.L., Mexico City, 2024), El Cuarto de las Caracolas (N.A.S.A.L., Mexico City, 2024), and presentations at the Bienal de la Amazonía (Belém, Brazil), MAC Lima, and the Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art. Her work has also been featured at fairs such as ARCO Madrid, SWAB Barcelona (Best Project Award), and ArteBA.
