Luis Enrique Zela-Koort Peruvian, b. 1994

Luis Enrique Zela-Koort (b. 1994) is a Peruvian artist and researcher examining the ideological uses of science, mythology, and identity in shaping systems of belief. Moving fluidly between digital and manual processes, they create sculptural, pictorial, and interactive works that merge organic and technological aesthetics.

Their practice engages with concepts of desire, virality, and transformation, seeking to articulate what they describe as a “queer metaphysics” that challenges binary thought and the separation of nature and culture. Through speculative narratives and hybrid materials, Zela-Koort constructs alternate cosmologies that reveal the porous boundaries between the body and the technologies it produces. Their work often draws from personal experience, addressing chronic illness and the politics of representation through a lens of vulnerability and resistance.
