Raura Oblitas Peruvian , b. 1979

Raura Oblitas Jordan (b. 1979, Lima) is a sculptor and installation-artist who holds a Master’s degree in Art History and Curatorial Studies from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, where she also completed a Licenciatura in Visual Arts with mention in Sculpture.

 

Her work explores the three-dimensional construction of meaning through sculpture-installation-site-specific interventions, delineating the intersections of institutional space, power and subjectivity. Her major solo presentations include LOT (Museo MATE, 2019), To Eat the Phelgm (Biquini Wax, Mexico) and Soldiers of Love (Galería 80m², Lima). She has also completed residencies at FLORA ars+natura in Colombia, Sculpture Space in New York and SOMA Summer in Mexico City.

 

Her work is held in the permanent collection of the Museo de la Memoria – LUM (Peru) and she was awarded the Arcos Dorados Prize at Pinta New York in 2014.
