“With this artistic project, Maureen Gubia (Guayaquil, 1984) invites us into her moss cave—her most intimate space—and allows us to observe the everyday life of her family in a state of languor that unfolds into a world. For Gubia, the cave is a warm, safe, and comforting physical space, but also a mental space of refuge. Within it, living and virtual bodies interact, the latter summoned through video calls when they are physically distant. The cave is, ultimately, a refuge of affection.(…)”
