N.A.S.A.L. is pleased to present Todos los Pulsos Posibles by Luis Enrique Zela-Koort, marking his first solo exhibition at our Mexico City space.

“The more significant we might feel and the more we learn about any specific thing, the more insignificant we realise we actually are, and the less we know. I don’t mean this to make one feel small, but rather to suggest that looking more closely opens a multitude of layers and connections, revealing new dimensions that envelop the original meaning in greater nuance. The works of Luis Zela act as a catalyst for this dissection and exploration, pinpointing the everything and amplifying it even further. At the core of their work is a navigation of what it means to desire, need, and want—what stands as a collective, a unity, and what leads to its breakdown, as it simultaneously contributes to and works against itself. Cue every pop song that has subconsciously crept into our collective memory, with lyrics flowing through our veins: ‘Can’t live if living is without you,’ ‘My loneliness is killing me!’ (I bet you sang those songs in your head when you read the lyrics, right?) We are continuously led to believe that we are not meant to be alone, yet the very thing that connects us is also what is destructive and malleable, what renders us perishable—something that must come with pain and suffering to be worthy of our attention, love, and union.
